Making The Trailer

This is the second page of many that will chronicle the entire "behind the scenes" of the new Destiny movie.

Enjoy!

July 2nd 2009 - DESTINY: THE MOVIE  -  Pre-production trailer

The trailer's now on YouTube, and below, also brought by YouTube.  Please rate and comment if you're able to.  Thanks for all the continued support.  Please use the links here to fan Destiny on facebook and to follow the movie on twitter.

July 1st 2009 - Complex - Final Trailer Scene Complete!

The final scene is now complete.  I still need to configure Detrini's hair for a previous scene, I won't be putting that update on here as there's no need.  Several scenes now to render.  Trailer will hit the net within the next 2 days.  This is a good day.

June 30th 2009 - Improved Rising Smoke & "Spin Kick, Face Plant" screens

Managed to get 4 hours of work done today.  I've improved the rising smoke, which now looks a lot more like smoke with the added definition on it also.  And I've created the scene for the "Spin Kick, Face Plant" which I uploaded the test animation of yesterday.  I've also added expressions to the fighting characters.  All in all, a good few hours work.

One scene left to create, and another scene to fix some hair on to get a more realistic motion look, then the trailer will be online.

June 29th 2009 - Spin Kick, Face Plant

This took the best part of 5 hours to animate, hence why I need to be working on Destiny: The Movie full-time.

June 27th 2009 - Discovery/Barely Alive

Ok, 2 more screenshots for ya.  That was meant to be smoke coming from the building behind Carl, but it looks a little crap, so don't be surprised if thats modified by the time the trailer's released.

June 26th 2009 - Rooftops

I've currently worked 21 days straight at work, and I've another 12 days to go until I get a day off.  I'm saying this, just in case you wonder why this trailer's taking so long to complete.

Anyways, I've put together a couple scenes over the past couple days, which only leaves 4 scenes to go!  Then the trailer will be online.  I'm thinking this will happen by July 3rd.  So keep checking back over the next week for the final scenes.

June 22nd 2009 - End of the launch bay

I've now completely rendered the launch bay scenes for the trailer, took the best part of a day to render the scene below, due to the reflections/refractions on the glass and in the water, but its worth it when you see it all moving.  Not too long to go now, so stay with me!

Script writing is also going really well, producing really fleshed out characters.  Also, everything you see in the trailer, is in the script.  This trailer isn't a senseless hype for the movie, quality will remain high and the story strong.

June 20th 2009 - Gattling

Finding free time to work on Destiny is getting really hard.  Sooner funding could come from someone willing to invest in the movie(s), the better.  I've been able to put together a couple seconds of animation today, its another scene from inside the launch bay.  This is the new and improved way that the glass will get cracked, before its finally smashed by the alien fish that smashed through in the original.  And yes, the fish is coming back too.  The next part I'll be working on is just that.  All this will be in the trailer, so when you watch it, try not to blink, cos I'm gonna be showing quite a few scenes for the finished movie.

June 17th 2009 - Flooded

It's been non-stop work lately.  Really trying to get more done on DESTINY, but the job I'm currently being paid for is constantly getting in the way of that.  Anyways, I've put together a  shattered texture for the launch bay glass now, also set up particle effects for the water flooding the place, and I've whacked together a 5 second animation test to show you how it looks.

The movement of the ground water will be improved, just showing it here to you to show that it's not a static model.  The refractions this will give when rendered will look great!

June 14th 2009 - The Launch Bay

Here's 2 images from inside the new (and huge), launch bay.  The second image will have shattered glass and visible streams of water passing through the cracks.  The ground water I've put a little high, just to show off that the water has refractions, just like in real life.  The water's surface moves too, giving a very "real" feel to it.  Also the glass has refractions too, which will be more noticeable with camera movements.

I've 2 very short scenes to create in here for the trailer, these will show both versions of the launch bay as described above.

June 12th 2009 - Special Announcement

It's been a very busy few days, unfortunately not for DESTINY.  I'm working non-stop for the next few weeks, makes it really hard to fit in the movie work, but I will, somehow.

So, news for the day, or think of it as news for the next few years!  I've been loving the style DESTINY has, and how I originally started using a form of this style in one of my first animated shorts, AGENT: The Introduction.  As those of you who have followed my previous works knows, she's been revamped a few times in the past, but never quite made it back.

So here's the big news.  NEW DAWN will begin production directly after completion of DESTINY.  What's more, the look has changed.  It will now be in the new DESTINY style, though with added detailed enhancements.

Furthermore, I am very willing to do a 3-4 year contract to create these 2 movies.  So come on you producer types, help fund the movies that will make a mark in the 3D animated movie industry.

Below is a sample for the look of NEW DAWN.

Keep in mind, the story for NEW DAWN is much darker, this is reflected in the environments, and the detailed enhancements reflect this.  Also, where as DESTINY could be rated as a 15 rated movie, due to the animated violence, NEW DAWN would be more towards an 18 rated certificate, as it will contains violence, nudity, sex, and drug use (for the purpose of genetic enhancements).

June 8th 2009 - Thinking Big

So I've mentioned before about this project being huge, but not just because its a full feature film.  As you can see below from these screenshots of the high speed bike chase, that you'll briefly be introduced to in the trailer, the sets are quite large.  It's actually quite funny to see the characters looking so tiny in comparison.

June 4th 2009 - Screenshot from the trailer

Here's a few screenshots that you may like.  Enjoy.  I'm hoping to have the trailer out in a couple of weeks or so.

June 1st 2009 - Aliens of Zal'lanora

Yes, you read that right.  The planet Destiny is set on is called Zal'lanora.  The alien inhabitants now have a new refreshed look.  Each alien will have a distinct look and color, unlike the original which only varied in slight texture differences.  There will also be different classes of alien.  Scientists, commandos, worshipers (you find out more about the title "Destiny" with these), and aliens that have no clothes at all!   This image show Za'or, with Carl Krainer beside him for scale purposes.  Za'or is the main alien scientist working with Carl in the underwater base.

May 28th 2009 - Bikeride - I still can't resist!

A quick render for you all.  You know, he really shouldn't stand there.

May 27th 2009 - Couldn't resist!

This update is a little early, but I really wanted to post it, cos it looks really cool.  As some of you may know from a couple images from the original DESTINY (not seen in the comic), Detrini rides a slightly futuristic motorcycle.  This will finally make it into the movie for a chase/battle sequence, with Shanar.  As the movie is being classed as an anime version of DESTINY, the bikes will also reflect this by being huge powerful machines, which should make for a pretty cool sequence.

May 26th 2009 - Getting started!

Well I'm back, after a few weeks off.  It'll be another few weeks until I'm back on board with everything DESTINY, as I've moved yet again!  That's 4 times in less then 4 years!  But anyways, enough about that, let's get on with why you're here.

The trailer was originally going to be the first full 5 minutes of the movie, but as I don't have the rights to the music in the teaser (Ayumi Hamasaki's Evolution), I will have to alter it and continue the road I was going down with music I have a licence for.

So step in Albert Alvarez - www.albertalvarez.com

His music is available for purchase on Renderosity.  So the entire movie will now feature his epic style tunes.

So that's the soundtrack sorted.  What should you expect from this new trailer?

The new trailer will touch key areas of the story:

what's happened to Earth and the colonists;

the war on the alien planet;

the rebirth of the main character (Detrini) that will decide the survival of the human race;

Shadows Of The Past - hints to what DESTINY vol.2 was going to be about.

The new trailer will also feature several sets, some previously seen in the original, DESTINY vol.1, but now with its anime look.
